A 75-year-old man was arrested after allegedly taking a five-year-old girl from a playground in Queens, New York, to his home in Manhattan. The mother of the five-year-old girl had allowed her daughter to go to the park with the man, whom she claimed to have known as an acquaintance for several months. However, after several hours had passed, the mother grew worried and called the police. The girl was found in Manhattan four hours later at the man’s apartment. The man was charged with kidnapping and sexual assault. Initially, the mother was charged with child endangerment, but the Queens district attorney declined to prosecute. The child is currently in the care of her biological father.
