Cuba is a small nation with a storied history. The Cuban revolution that began July 17, 1953 was a major turning point in world history. On April 17, 1961 president John F. Kennedy authorized the U.S military invasion of Cuba. A convert operation in response to the perceived threat of a Cuban Russian alliance. To date Cuba has yet to materialize the promise of economic prosperity. Although Cuba strides toward racial and social justice, inequality still plagues it.
