The Olympic Games held every four years is an international multi-billion dollar industry. Playing in the Olympics can lead to promising opportunities such as goal medals, sponsorships, endorsement deals, and motivational speaking engagements.
However, participation in the games is no guarantee of success. Moreover, it is very costly to be a contender. From fees, trainers, physicians, and Tavel cost, there is no wonder why only the best athletes in the world are the only ones counted among Olympic contenders.
Sadly the money generated from the games isn’t sufficient to sustain even a semblance of a comfortable lifestyle. Many Olympians out of sheer desperation are forced to sell off their medals to wealthy collectors in order to avoid economic hardship. Sadly most goal medalists aren’t wealthy they often have menial jobs just to sustain themselves all year round.
